What Happens During a Kobido Session?

Here's Exactly What to Expect

If you've never experienced a Kobido facial massage before, it's completely normal to feel a little unsure.

Will it hurt?

Should I arrive without makeup?

What actually happens during the treatment?

My goal is to make your first visit feel calm, comfortable and completely stress-free.

Here's exactly what happens during a session at The Kobido Room.

We Start with a Short Consultation

Before we begin, we'll spend a few minutes talking about you.

I'll ask about:

  • any jaw, neck or facial tension

  • headaches or teeth grinding

  • any health conditions or contraindications

  • what you'd like to focus on during today's treatment

Every face is different, so each session is adapted to your individual needs.

Please Arrive Without Makeup

If possible, I recommend arriving with a clean face.

If you're wearing a little SPF or have picked up some dust during the day, I'll gently cleanse your skin before we begin.

If you arrive wearing makeup, I'll carefully remove it first so the massage can be performed comfortably.

Get Comfortable & Relax

You'll lie comfortably on the massage bed while soft music plays in the background.

There's nothing you need to do—just close your eyes, breathe and allow yourself to switch off.

Many clients tell me it's one of the few moments in the week when they truly relax.

Step One: Releasing Upper Body Tension

Although Kobido is known as a facial massage, we don't start with the face.

The treatment begins by releasing tension around the:

  • upper chest

  • shoulders

  • neck

These areas are closely connected to the muscles of the face. Releasing them first helps prepare the body for the rest of the treatment and allows deeper relaxation.

Step Two: Lymphatic Drainage

Next comes gentle facial lymphatic drainage.

Using slow, rhythmic movements, we encourage fluid circulation and support the body's natural drainage pathways.

This step can help reduce puffiness and leave the face feeling lighter and refreshed.

Step Three: The Kobido Massage

Now the main part of the treatment begins.

The massage starts at the scalp before moving onto the forehead and gradually working down across the entire face.

During this stage, I combine different techniques, including:

  • myofascial release

  • lifting movements

  • muscle stimulation

  • rhythmic Kobido techniques

  • acupressure

The pace changes throughout the treatment—sometimes slow and deeply relaxing, sometimes quicker and more energising.

This combination is what makes Kobido so unique.

A Deep Sense of Relaxation

Many clients are surprised by how deeply relaxed they feel.

As the muscles soften, breathing naturally becomes slower, the jaw releases and the whole body begins to unwind.

Some people even fall asleep during the treatment.

Finishing the Session

Towards the end, the movements become slower and gentler again, allowing your body and nervous system to fully settle.

You'll have a few quiet moments before getting up, so there's never any need to rush.

How Will I Feel Afterwards?

Everyone experiences Kobido a little differently, but many clients notice:

  • reduced facial puffiness

  • softer jaw tension

  • brighter-looking skin

  • a fresher, more rested appearance

  • a deep sense of calm

Sometimes the biggest difference isn't what you see in the mirror—it's how light and relaxed you feel afterwards.

Does Kobido Hurt?

No.

The treatment should always feel comfortable.

Some areas, particularly around the jaw or neck, may feel a little tender if they're holding a lot of tension, but I always adjust the pressure to suit you.

Your First Visit

There's no pressure to know anything before you arrive.

Just come as you are, wear something comfortable around the neck and shoulders if possible, and allow yourself time to slow down.

Your first Kobido session is more than a facial massage—it's an opportunity to release tension, reconnect with your body and enjoy a quiet moment that's entirely for you.

I look forward to welcoming you to The Kobido Room. 🤍
